Wood-fired salt-glazed stoneware
Mandy Parslow creates her wheel thrown ceramics at her rural studio in the Glen of Aherlow, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Continually challenged by the natural landscape, she incorporates its ever shifting light and tones into a body of work that celebrates the individual. The distinctive pieces are often altered while the clay is still malleable before being salt fired in a wood fuelled kiln. The decorative and firing techniques used aim to retain the vitality of the freshly made pieces and to give the surfaces subtlety and depth.
